Best of South Australia (departing Perth)

This morning make your way to East Perth Station to board the Indian Pacific. Settle into your Gold Service cabin, and enjoy the meals, beverages and facilities available to you. Later this evening, after dinner, you will arrive in Kalgoorlie where you can join your off train excursion to the Hannan’s North Tourist Mine. Learn about the Golden Mile and the thriving days of the gold rush period. Have your photo taken next to a huge dump truck, and see the oversized ‘Super Pit’, the world’s largest single open cut mining operation which continues to recover precious metal. At the end of the tour, return to the Indian Pacific to continue your overnight journey.

Overnight: Indian Pacific, 2 nights

Early this morning the train will stop at a siding in Rawlinna, where you can disembark to watch the sunrise followed by a delicious breakfast. Continue your journey across the longest straight stretch of railway in the world, and stop at Cook, once a thriving railway town but now considered a ghost town. Spend the afternoon in your cabin watching the world go by, or head to the lounge car to make new friends and listen to the live entertainer.

Arrive into Adelaide in the morning and make your way to your accommodation. As check in is not until later, you can drop your bags off and wander over to the famous Central Markets to explore the many food delights on offer there. Visit Chinatown for lunch, or discover one of the many restaurants found on Gouger Street, offering a great range of cuisines from Asian banquets to Argentinian barbecues.

Overnight: Stamford Plaza Adelaide

Early this morning you will be head to Cape Jervis to board the ferry to Kangaroo Island. Visit Seal Bay Conservation Park for a guided beach walk amongst a colony of wild Australian sea lions, before enjoying a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon head to Flinders Chase National Park to see the iconic Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, and finish at the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park where you will see kangaroos and koalas up close. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your accommodation in Kingscote.

Overnight: Aurora Ozone Hotel

This morning visit Raptor Domain for the fascinating and educational free flights Birds of Prey presentation, before continuing on the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, where you will learn all about the oil extraction process, plus enjoy a delicious lunch. Finish the day at False Cape Wines Cellar Door, where you will enjoy a structured wine tasting before free time in Penneshaw to buy some dinner (own cost), and return to Adelaide on the ferry and coach.

Overnight: Stamford Plaza Adelaide

Around lunch time you will travel from your hotel to Mannum to meet the Murray Princess paddlewheeler. Settle into your cabin before enjoying a delicious dinner as you cruise down the mighty Murray River to your overnight mooring point at Mundurra.

Overnight: Murray Princess, 3 nights

After a hearty breakfast, the Murray Princess will dock at Murray Bridge. Take a guided walk through the old Roundhouse, a significant historical building that served as a school, post office, church and council chambers in the early development of the town. Or go on a wildlife tour to Monarto Zoo, one of the largest open-range zoos in the world! Return to the Murray Princess in time for lunch and continue your journey upriver. After dinner you'll be entertained by the talented crew, before settling into your comfortable cabin for a restful evening.

All ashore for a guided nature walk, to learn the secrets of the local flora and fauna. Then near Piggy Flat, you will join your 'Dragon Fly' flat bottomed discovery vessel for a wildlife tour, exploring the maze of the river and seeing the amazing birdlife up close. This evening join your fellow passengers for a delicious final night dinner and enjoy the evening entertainment.

Cruise back to Mannum, and after breakfast you will disembark and then head back to Adelaide.
